Monterey has been building bow rider boats for more than 30 years and their name is synonymous with quality. In the skiing and wake board world their model 224FS bow rider with its stepped hull is the cats meow to pull a skier or tuber off to create a wake for wake boards.
With a wrap around windshield in front of a helm seat that swivels, the seat also has a flip up bolster that allows for higher seating & viewing when needed by the driver. The 224FS has a great looking dash with a big tachometer, speedometer and all of other Mercury Smartcraft gauges you will need to monitor your big block Mercruiser I/O’s status.
Behind the driver, the cockpit area has huge U-shaped seating while the big open bow has seating for 5 more of your friends, and there is tons of storage underneath both in the main cockpit seats as well as under the bow seating. Since the 224FS was designed as a ski, wake board, and tubing boat, there is a large under deck wake board and water ski storage area that drains into the bilge. Indirect blue lighting through the cockpit adds a nice touch to the boat in times of restricted light.
There is a large, wide, walk through transom that goes out to the rear deck and then onto an unusually large swim platform (one of the biggest swim platforms I have ever seen), and a 3-step boarding ladder is recessed into the starboard side of the swim platform that in turn leads into the walk through transom.
The motor compartment on the 224FS is huge with the big Mercruiser only occupying about half of the compartments space, leaving a lot of room for storing miscellaneous items. Options that some boaters might like would be SeaDek type flooring, a Bimini top and or a boat cover to keep the sun rays out when the boat is not in use. All Monterey sport boats come with a limited 10-year warranty.
