In 2020 Regal introduced their all new 38 SAV – short for “Sports Activity Vessel”, a 38 ft boat that is designed to do – well, just about anything, This 38 footer is much more than just a regular center console as it is designed to do any water activity a boater can think of from just cruising, to diving (with 4 deck level exit/entrance doors!), to fishing, or pulling tubes and water skis.

With an almost 12 ft beam, the helm of the 38 SAV has 4 captain’s chairs – yes, 4 heavily padded high back helm chairs, each with bolsters, and arm rests, and they slide forwards and backwards electrically. An interesting feature of these helm chairs is that the outside 2 seats can swivel 180 degrees to face the stern – a unique feature I have never seen on a large center console boat. Underneath the 4 helm chairs are 4 equally impressive storage lockers.

The Regal’s unique helm chairs sit behind an enormous center console that has footrests for the helm seats, a tilt steering wheel, and enough room to mount 2 Garmin 16-inch chart plotters side by side along with a host of other electronic equipment. The extra-large hardtop has a sliding glass sunroof that can be easily opened and closed.

Behind the helm is a large what Regal calls a “refreshment island,” a countertop that has everything you need to prepare a meal, such as a refrigerator, a cooktop – which is optional and a generator is required, a sink, and a food prep area, plus lots of storage and it is in the cabin below the center console.

The center console on the Regal 38 SAV is the largest I have ever seen, and underneath it there are two double beds, a huge head with ceramic sink, ceramic toilet, and a large shower.
