Founded over 60 years ago in Elkhart, IN., Godfrey was a pioneer in the manufacturing of pontoon boats and today makes a wide variety of pontoon boat models starting with a two tube 15-footer entry level pontoon boat, up to a 27-foot deluxe ‘tritoon’ model.
Their entry level 15-foot “Mighty G” that we opted to review is available is several models and we chose to look at their fishing model as it looked like an ideal fishing platform for use in small lakes, or for anglers who are unable to trailer a larger/heavier pontoon, or even for entry level pontoon buyers. While Godfrey’s 15-foot pontoon boat also comes as more of a recreational model, their fishing model comes standard with two swiveling fishing seats in the bow, and a stand-up fishing area in the stern. In the stern you will find a wide starboard side helm seat with rod holders, drink holders, and a lockable rod locker with plenty of interior space for a trolling motor battery(s). Also in the stern is a four-step retractable boarding ladder, a standard trolling motor wiring harness kit including a universal trolling motor plug, as well as a stern gate to access the aft deck area. Amidship are two bench-style seats providing comfortable seating for two or more additional passengers.
The two swiveling fishing seats in the bow are accompanied by a bow fishing station that includes rod holders, drink holders, and a large tackle storage area for each angler. The Mighty G comes with four nylon cleats, one on each corner of the pontoon for easily securing the boat when at the dock.
360-degree RGB under deck lighting, and a Bimini top are several useful options available on the Mighty G. If you want to water ski or slalom when the fish aren’t biting, you will want to opt for Godfrey’s performance package that comes with four-inch lifting strakes and under-deck skin which gives you better handling when at high speeds.
