Quality and the Princecraft name go hand in hand and have for over 60 years. Princecraft not only designs quality but creates adventure on the water that looks good while doing it. The all new Princecraft 182 Sport is no exception as this boat combines all the fishing features that you need with a family friendly design that offers you with the best of both worlds.
The hull design of the sport 182 measures 18 feet and 5 inches and can accommodate up to 6 passengers. Offered with either a Mercury 115 EXLPT (electric start, XL shaft, power trim) or the optional 150 XL Pro XS (standard Sea Star power steering / optional in the 115), you have enough power scoot to the watering whole or pull a tuber after a day of fishing.
The all-new hull design is wider at the bow and the stern than previous models. This provides ample space throughout the cockpit. The bottom gauge aluminum us 2.8mm, while the sides are 1.8mm thick. This is normal and industry standard for this size boat. This hull design offers stability, quicker hole shots and a smoother ride at top end. This new model is 3” wider at the top (98” vs 95”) than its predecessor. At the chime, you have 84” instead of the 80” that was previously offered.
Looking at the bow, in the starboard side floor you have a cooler while you have a 30-inch 17 gallon live well on the port. There is also anchor storage in the middle towards the bow. Just aft of the anchor storage is additional storage and access to your trolling motor battery. Standard with a 12V Minn Kota, you can option for the 24-volt motor if you prefer. The casting platform overall is spacious and easy to access. The bow cushion option is a must have if you plan on using the boat for pleasure.
The back anodized tempered glass walk through windshield that surrounds both the helm and the port console is sturdy and easy to use when putting the walk through windshield in place. The port side console has plenty of storage with a large roto molded tray and a locking glove box. There is additional storage underneath the console. The cup holder is perfectly placed to the left of the storage tray. Both the port and starboard dashes are made of composite if something needed to be added or replaced.
The helm is functionally designed starting with the tilt helm. The analog gauges just in front of the wheel show rpms, trim, fuel and speed. I would recommend that you upgrade to the Multifunction Simrad Go7 screen replacing the standard gauges. To the right of the wheel are the lighted aircraft accessory switches. To the left is a 12v plus. The shifter adorns the starboard side gunnel and is properly placed for easy and comfortable use. I would like to see some sort of tray designed next to the 12 volt plus so that you can place the accessory that you are charging safely.
I would also like to see a stainless-steel cup holder either in the dash or the side gunnel. The techno package will upgrade you to a 160-watt Jenson stereo and battery switch. One thing that I do like about the dash is there is plenty of room for a larger fish finder / sonar on the right side of the gauges. Another nice feature is the captain’s chair is mounted on a slider so that you can slide back when getting out from behind the wheel and slide up for comfort when driving. The chairs fold easily and are lightweight for when you are moving them to the casting platforms.
The cockpit floor has a anti-skid vinyl floor and is home to a six-rod holder compartment. There is also locking gunnel storage on either side of the boat. Two seat bases come standard in the cockpit, but the floor is conveniently marked if you want your dealer to add an additional two more. To the aft, the three folding seats are standard. Fold them all the way down and you can flip over the entire seat base to create a larger casting platform to the aft of the boat. This is really a cool design that provides space in the cockpit when not fishing but does not limit the space needed when you want to competitively fish. Adorning the entire cockpit is the standard Factory-installed snap fasteners for canvas camper enclosures & mooring top options.
Integrated into the rear casting platform is a massive 44” / 20-gallon electric filled live well in the middle that is aerated. There is storage on the port side and access to the cranking battery on the right side of the platform. Access to the three-step stainless steel swim ladder on the starboard side is open and convenient.
On the water, no matter which engine package you choose, the Princecraft 182 Sport has a quick hole shot for water sports and when trimmed correctly, handles the water very well at top end speeds. Turning and corning is no issue with the hull design as she provides stability with the added inches in the chimes.
The standard trailer is a galvanized bunk style trailer with a single axel and disc brakes. The swing tongue offers the ability to store the boat in more compact spaces. The bunks are carpeted and provide guides to help with loading. There are built in steps on either side with composite fenders. You can upgrade to a tandem axle trailer if needed. The standard trailer weighs about 510 pounds.
If you are a family of four that is looking for the perfect cross over boat, look no further than the Princecraft Sport 182. Princecraft took something that was proven and made it even better. They listened to their dealers and customers and took the input to design and create the all new Princecraft 182 Sport.
