Cox Powertrain revealed for the first time at this past week’s 2018 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, their revolutionary diesel engine, the Cox CXO300, which is the world’s first 300hp diesel outbound engine. Visitors to the show saw Cox’s impressive pre-production engines on a twin-engine installation fitted to the transom of Intrepid’s new 345 Nomad.
Delivering 300hp at the propeller, the CXO300 is the world’s highest power density diesel outboard engine. It will revolutionize commercial, military & professional boat operation, and the recreational boating market too. The engine is based on the proven technology of a 4-stroke, V8 architecture. Weighing just 375kg, it offers at least a 25% better range compared to a gasoline outboard and is designed to last up to three times longer. Users could save as much as three times the £35,000 retail cost of the CXO300 over the lifespan of the outboard due to its long life, fuel efficiency, long service intervals and reduced haul-out costs.
The CXO300 has been specially developed to rival the power, performance and weight of a petrol outboard motor, with the additional benefit of diesel economy. The CXO300 qualities of efficiency and reliability work hand in hand with a robust and powerful propulsion, even in the most unforgiving marine environments.
The CXO300 is the highest power density diesel outboard motor ever developed, designed for commercial service up to three times longer than an equivalent petrol outboard motor, deliver a 25% increased range and it’s dynamic construction results in longer service intervals of approximately 1,200 hours.
The CXO300 has been designed and developed in line with NATO’s single fuel policy, which aims to cut the use of petrol-driven equipment in favour of diesel.
