Boat Test #1604
By Capt. Bill Jennings
A great example of just how far pontoons have evolved is a relatively new pontoon builder that opened in 2018, called Barletta Boats.
As Jeff Roth, Barletta’s ‘VP of Marketing’ put it, “If a feature should be standard on a pontoon boat, it is standard with Barletta”. In fact, Barletta offers their customers “the most standard items in the industry”. In so doing, Barletta have created a high end pontoon line that even the most successful people in the world would be proud to own. Let’s take a look at one model: the L25UE – ultimate entertainer.
Layout wise, the L-class L25UE is unique in the pontoon market space. At 27’ 6” there is plenty of room for up to 14 guests in the triple tube option. Twin facing sofas create a separate conversation area up at the bow. The fiberglass raised helm station features a single high-back pedestal chair complete with armrests, a very well organized dash surrounding a three-spoke wheel. Aft of the helm seat is a rear-facing lounge that is double-wide and perfect for spotting, sun tanning, or just lounging while at anchor. The unique part is the port-side high-top dining table, complete with a bench seat on the forward side (with a flip-fold seatback), and two pedestal chairs on the aft side.
The Barletta website lets you customize your L25UE with their boat builder tool. I choose a black diamond exterior paint, Amalfi tan ultra-soft marine vinyl with black quilting for the furniture covering, Milan weave for the floor covering, I upgraded to the triple-tube complete with in-floor storage, and maxed out with the Mercury 400 Verado outboard. The gleaming stainless steel re-boarding ladder and ski tow bar are standard. All Barletta boats come with a limited lifetime structural warranty, plus a 10 year bow-to-stern warranty.
