Parks Canada is offering an ‘Early Bird’ rate for boaters who want to buy a seasonal lockage permit for their historic canals.
Until March 31, 2023, boaters can receive 20 percent off seasonal lockage permits and an additional ten percent off a mooring permit if you buy them together.
If you have both permits, it allows you to anchor you boat for the day or overnight at one of Parks Canada’s seven national historic canals, two national parks and one national marine conservation area. Alongside the canals, there are scenic campsites, historic homes, and other accommodations available for rental.
The waterways included through this deal include:
1. Carillon Canal, Quebec
2. Chambly Canal, Quebec
3. Lachine Canal, Quebec
4. Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue Canal, Quebec
5. Sainte-Ours Canal, Quebec
6. Rideau Canal, Ontario
7. Trent-Severn Waterway, Ontario
8. Sault Ste. Marie Canal, Ontario
9. Peters Canal, Nova Scotia
There are also seasonal lockage permits available online for canoes and kayaks. All the information you need can be found on the Parks Canada website.
