XO boats are fairly new to the Americas, but are well known in the Scandinavian countries as well as throughout Europe. Built in Helsinki, Finland, XO’s are constructed of military grade aluminum plate, available in a variety of sizes and configurations including center consoles and cabin models from 25 to 33 ft in both inboard gas and diesel power, as well as outboard powered versions.

Built for duty in the North Sea, all XO boats are constructed of 4mm aluminum side panels reinforced with honeycomb plates, 5 mm bottom plates, and an 8 mm thick keel. Their 26 ft cabin cruiser – which is the subject of this review, is a new model for XO and has seating for 4 in the aft cockpit, 6 in the cabin, and 4 in the bow.

There is a nice ski/wake board pilon in the stern with a large hatch in center of the aft deck to store ski or wake boards, and there are also two large port and starboard hatches in the aft end of the boat for additional storage as well as accessing the boats bilge and batteries.

Two high back side by side swivel seats with flip up bolsters grace the cockpit with an L shaped settee behind on the port side as well as an additional seat behind the starboard helm for 2. A fold up dining table retracts to form the basis for a double bed behind the helm. A toilet sits under the port dash area behind a door that gives complete privacy when nature calls.

A large Simrad chartplotter graces the dash area in front of the helm seat and in addition to displaying chart and sonar information, the Simrad also displays all of the outboard engine’s technical information, thus eliminating a myriad of gauges. Hydraulic steering is standard as are trim tabs, windshield wipers, and an AM/FM stereo. There is a safety grab rail all around the top of the large fiberglass top, while on nice days passengers in the cabin can enjoy opening a large sliding glass sunroof.

A large glass door in the bow of the cabin opens into the bow rider like front deck where you will find comfortable padded seating for 4 adults and a table for holding snacks or drinks in stainless drink holders
