Last year we published a review of the Harris Crown SL 270, their top of the line ‘tritoon’ boat, but this year we’re looking at their Cruiser 190 model, Harris’ entry level two tube pontoon boat. Harris is no stranger to pontoons and have been building these boats for over 60 years.
Now owned by the Brunswick Corporation (think Mercury Marine), Brunswick also owns Sea Ray, Boston Whaler and other boat manufacturers, so don’t let the words entry level fool you as the Harris Cruiser 190 contains lots of standard items not found on other pontoon boats.
With its full width bench seat on the aft end, the Cruiser 190 can seat four adults and a couple of dogs there comfortably, all the while with heavy duty stainless-steel side railings and an engine rail for hand holding safety (keep a hold of the dogs though). There is a built-in cooler along with tons of storage under this aft seat. Moving forward into the aft cockpit there is a bench seat comfortable for four adults with tons more storage underneath their seats along with a separate underneath seat storage area for the pontoons battery. In this seating arrangement the back rest folds down to form a lounge where you can stretch out for a while or even take a nap.
The bow has additional wrap around seating for four adults and as with all of the other seats in the Cruiser 190, there is ample of storage underneath these seats. A dining table is an option available for installation and easy take down adjacent to the helm seat, and cup holders abound on the Cruiser 190. Pop-up stainless-steel cleats are a nice standard item now on all Harris pontoons.
The helm seat sits alone on the starboard side of the cockpit with the outboard shifter and other controls within easy reach. Behind the steering wheel a four-inch Lowrance “Hook” screen displays sonar and fish finder information. A Clarion stereo with Bluetooth is also a standard helm item.
