Sea Ray proudly claims that they make a boat for every lifestyle. The Sea Ray 250 SLX Sundeck provides a perfect example of that claim. It is simply a beautiful boat.
The seating layout on this 26’ 6” boat is superb. Bowrider lounge seats, with storage below, have molded armrests for added comfort. There are twin bolster bucket seats behind the curved glass windshield. Even the driver side windshield wiper is standard. To starboard there is an entertainment center with Corian sink, storage cabinet and trash receptacle. A 21 gallon tank and 12 volt pump ensures ample fresh water for the sink and transom shower. For big boat convenience, there is a private enclosed, portable head. Aft, you will find a semi-circular aft lounger, with a fibreglass storage base and a large gull-wing sun pad. The integral swim platform incorporates a stainless steel, four step boarding ladder with built in grab handle.
The 250 SLX helm is as complete as any we have seen in a boat of this size. In addition to a standard speedometer, a ‘systems tachometer’ includes: depth/water temperature, engine alarm/hour meter, fuel consumption/usage, trim level, troll control, voltage and digital speed.
The Sea Ray, SmartCraft instrumentation has glass lenses with low glare, blue night lighting and chrome bezels. You also have the sound system controls for the Sony stereo with CD player and iPod connector. Steering is improved with power assist and the tilt wood-accent wheel and the lighted chrome toggle switches add a touch of class.
As standard power, buyers may choose between a MerCruiserR 350 MAG ECT with a Bravo III, 300 hp sterndrive. Six full-length strakes on this 2,531 pound deep-V, provide superior lift and control. The optional 380 horsepower Mercruiser dramatically increases the performance numbers and the 75 gallon fuel tank facilitates longer cruises.
The 250SLX is also one of the first models to which Sea Ray has applied an improved construction procedure that they have dubbed “quietRIDE™ Technology”. This fundamental change in the build process uses acoustical forensics, advanced engineering and sound-attenuation materials to deaden sound and vibration at the source. To be specific, a patented tuned transom® from Omni Products Inc. reduces noise and vibration created by engine and drive. A special inner laminate fabric between the deck, hull and liner converts vibration into heat, preventing sound from traveling through, which reduces noise and vibration from the water hitting the hull. Full-beam bulkheads and acoustical insulation trap and absorb noise and vibration before it can enter the cockpit. Sea Ray also installed gaskets or bumpers on all hatches and doors and inserted foam beneath the deck. The net result is a significant reduction in noise, vibration and harshness, which in turn contributes to a more luxurious boating experience.
New options for this year include fashionable two-tone upholstery, full-colored hull gelcoat and a forward-leaning tower with LED lights and removable bimini.
