The 2018 North American Safe Boating Awareness Week Campaign is ramping up for this year’s boating season. Since 1995, this campaign has been the mainstay of boating safety outreach to the over 16 million people who recreate on Canadian waters each season. The 2018 campaign will be no exception as we continue to strive to engrain safe and responsible boating practices as second nature on the water. Here’s the list of 2018 Events for Safe Boating Week.
The purpose of Safe Boating Awareness Week is to provide boaters as they prepare to embark on another boating season of some key reminders that will help to keep them safe on the water throughout the season.
At the core of the 2018 campaign are the 5 key messages that we have been consistently delivering to the boating community. The following links take you to the content details on the Canadian Safe Boating Council website.
Boating under the influence of alcohol, recreational drugs or prescription narcotics, is illegal, irresponsible and potentially deadly. Leave any such substances until you return to the dock.
The law now requires that anyone driving a motorized boat must have a pleasure-craft operator card. It’s for your own safety and that of your passengers. Don’t get caught without one. Take a course and get your license!
Cold water is a significant risk. Learn how to protect yourself.
Power Boating Canada reminds you that best boating adventure is one that you live to tell about for years and years to come – be safe and be smart out there on and around the water.
