When most manufacturers are launching new outboards with more power, Evinrude is taking a different tack by announcing three new mid-range outboards to its E-TEC G2 product line.
The company is introducing the 115 H.O., 140 HP and 150HP to its popular outboard line that includes models from 3.5 to 300 horsepower. The outboards will be available for the 2020 model year.
“We are proud to continue the legacy of Evinrude innovation in 2019 and well into the future,” said Tracy Crocker, president of the BRP Marine Group, in a press release. “By bringing the E-TEC advancements to the 115 H.O., 140HP and 150HP models, some of the most popular outboard sizes in the market, we are once again, delivering the pinnacle in innovation and performance that inspires confidence in each and every Evinrude owner as they pursue their life on the water.”
The new models house a direction injection inline three-cylinder powerhead, which Evinrude says delivers better running quality and quiet operation. All of E-TEC G2 models are emissions compliant around the world, Evinrude said.
Evinrude said its new E-TEC G2 models include next-generation technology such as digital shift and throttle, an iTrim control system and the optional iSteer power steering for outboards from 115 H.O to 300 horsepower.
The E-Tec G2 models will get a facelift for 2020 with the engines getting new premium graphics and buyers have the option of white or slate gray frames, as well as two new propellers. Evinrude said its 115 H.O. and 140 models will be available with premium controls and gauges, and a tiller option.
Evinrude, which will be manufacturing the three new engines in Sturtevant, Wisconsin, backs its engines with a warranty of five years or 500 hours. As of the announcement, Evinrude did not have specifications for the new outboards available. However, the engines are expected to weigh about the same as other outboards in the E-Tec G2 line. Watch for a Hands-On Test Report on the new engines in an upcoming issue.
