Every so often, a boat comes along that reshapes how people think about boating. The Aquila 44 by Nova Luxe is such a vessel. Unlike the countless other luxury catamarans in this size category, it’s all-electric. Strikingly different, it delivers a transcendent experience of silent, vibration-free cruising with almost unlimited range and zero emissions.
Inside and out, the impressive fit and finish of the 44 are all Aquila. The difference is Nova Luxe Yachts installs a state-of-the-art Torqeedo Deep Blue propulsion system with two BMW i3 batteries, full rooftop 5.6kW solar array and small backup generator. The proven combination powers the vessel over 1,250 miles at a cruising speed of 7.5 mph. With diesel engines, the boat would use 389 gallons of fuel—at $3/gallon, that’s $1,167—and generate over 8,200 lbs. of CO2, a leading cause of global warming.
A major component in the success of the Aquila 44 by Nova Luxe is its proven, ocean-going hull form. Minimal wetted surface and a modest displacement of 20 tons deliver long-range efficiency. Its 21′ 1″ beam provides extreme stability in a wide range of sea states and astounding interior roominess.
The thoughtfully designed Aquila 44 by Nova Luxe features two spacious VIP and one master staterooms, all with generous headroom, large windows and en suite heads. The main deck salon features full 360° visibility, while the expansive, covered flybridge offers an integrated wet bar and unprecedented views. As one might expect from a yacht of this caliber, appointments are all first class.
Livability aboard the Aquila 44 by Nova Luxe is no less luxurious because it’s all-electric. For example, the air conditioning can run all night without turning on the generator.
“The Nova Luxe customer is forward-thinking and self-sufficient,” said Marc Hawxhurst, Nova Luxe Yachts president. “They typically share our commitment to the environment and embrace of technology, which makes the Aquila 44 by Nova Luxe such a perfect match for their needs.” Prices start at $1.3M with 2019 deliveries still possible.
