With their headquarters based out of Poole, England, Sunseeker began producing small runabouts in the early 70’s. Fast forward to today, the com-pany has grown substantially and is now producing an impressive line of cruisers and Mega-Yachts up to 155’ in length! For 2018, Sunseeker is introducing a new version of their 74’ model to their Predator series.
The Sunseeker Predator 74 is being rein-troduced as a sporty and sleek motor yacht, with a 40+ knot capability. The unique, oversized pillar-less windows enhance the styling and flood the interior with light and provide nearly unobstructed views from inside the cabin.
The spacious foredeck is made for enter-taining, and is fitted with a large sunpad, as well a sizable seating area complete with a fixed table and retractable cover. Spacious side decks allow for easy access to the bow from the aft deck.
Back aft, you’ll find plenty of more space for a crowd and guests can enjoy the optional built-in BBQ, overhead ‘rain show-er’, and fold-down transom seating, and yet another generous sunpad. Below the cockpit is the integral ‘garage’, which is syn-onymous with the Predator models, and it is large enough to accommodate a jet-tender, which can be launched via the hydraulic swim platform. Also, back aft is the compact crew cabin with two berths and a head.
Heading into the main salon, you’ll find an interesting feature with the main door, which in addition to opening in a conven-tional manner, it can also be lowered into the cockpit sole at a flip of a switch. This feature allows the vessel to be transformed into an ‘open’ yacht in the warmer weather, and a ‘closed’ yacht when it cools off.
The spacious and luxurious salon is fitted with a large u-shaped seating area, ample storage, and a notable bar area off to port. Forward, and off to starboard, the lower helm features two large helm seats, and additional seating for more guests to inter-act with the captain while underway. A handy door allows for convenient access to the side deck. Overhead, you’ll find an impressive sliding glass roof, which allows for more natural light and ventilation.
A set of steps off to port lead you down to the galley and three spacious en-suite cabins. The luxurious full-beam master cabin features an optional walk-in closet, which can also be converted to an office area.
The VIP cabin is located forward, and a guest cabin is located off to starboard. The lower deck plan has the option to have an extended galley layout complete with a breakfast bar seating and a lounge, or an additional twin guest cabin could be added, which would allow the yacht to accommo-date more guests in a four-stateroom layout.
Standard power for the Predator 74 is a pair of MAN V12 engines, which produce 1,550hp each, and can offer a top speed around 35 knots. Optional 1,900hp MAN V12 power will put the top speed in the 40+ knot range.
Style, craftsmanship, and attention to detail are just a few ways to describe the Sunseeker Line, and the new Predator 74, which will be making its debut in Dusseldorf in 2018, will be sure to live up to the expectations of Sunseeker fans. By Mike Burns
