Power Boating Canada is saddened to share the news about the peaceful passing of François Tisi on Tuesday March 31, 2015. François was surrounded by his loving family, at Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital. He was 66 years of age.
François was the beloved husband of Jocelyne (nee: Landry). Loving father of Sylvain Tisi of Barrie, Danielle Tisi and husband Mike Holenski of Orillia. Cherished and very proud grandpa of Jordyn, Peyton and Bryce Tisi, Nicolas, Austin and Jasper Holenski. Dear brother of Lorraine Tisi Forand and partner Gary Hurst of Ridgeway, Rolande Guillemette and husband Marcel of Welland. What brought François the most joy was spending time with his family and friends.
In François life, the number one thing for him, his ultimate passion, was his six beautiful grandchildren. Wherever they were and whatever they were doing or involved in, he was there, often altering his personal plans to make it happen. He loved to golf, and he loved his huge family gatherings where everyone in attendance could always count of there being a lot of room for fun, and lots of food and drinks.
François was a beloved member of every community and organization that he touched. He was the current President of McLean & Dickey Insurance Brokers, MD Marine Insurance and Nautimax (2006-present); past Chief Executive Officer of the Ontario Teachers Insurance Plan (1985 – 2005); member of the Kiwanis Club of Orillia; recipient of the Skip Watson Award (2009); recipient of the Mérite Franco-Ontarien Award (2006); recipient of Queen’s Golden Jubilee Medal (2003), recipient of the Fellowship Award of the Ontario Teachers’ Federation (1991); and a Chartered Director with the Director’s College. After retiring, François got a little bored, and when the opportunity to purchase McLean & Dickey Insurance Brokers came up, he saw as an opportunity to reunite his family with his son Sylvain and daughter Danielle joining him in the business in Orillia, and growing it into what it is today.
The family received friends and relatives at the Mundell Funeral Home, 79 West St. N., Orillia, on Monday from April 6th, 2015. Parish Prayers were said at 6:45pm. The funeral service was held at the Church of the Guardian Angels, 115 West St. N., Orillia, for Mass of Christian Burial the following morning, April 7th, at 10:00am. Cremation followed.
If desired, memorial donations to the Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital Foundation would be gratefully appreciated. Messages of condolence are welcome at www.mundellfuneralhome.com
