Boat Test #1615
By Brad Roberts
Greenline Yachts introduced their all new 45 Fly, available summer 2020, at the 2019 Cannes Yachting Festival and have 25 confirmed orders already and have doubled production capacity to two units per month.
Unique in the flybridge market, the Greenline 45 Fly features their hybrid diesel/electric/hybrid powertrain, now in its’ fourth generation. That means the 45 Fly is the world’s largest emission-free sustainable yacht. Beginning with solar panels that produce power to charge the on-board battery bank that powers an in-line electric motor and inverter/charger (that produces 230V AC without the need to run a noisy generator), the 45 fly will cruise in near silence at 5 knots for up to 30 nautical miles. Volvo Penta and Yanmar engines are available and, as standard, the boat is fitted with a pair of 220hp shaft drive diesel engines but up to twin 370hp motors are available for a top speed of 25 knots. For those who want joystick control, Volvo Penta IPS500 (twin 380hp) and IPS600 (twin 440hp) are available, the latter capable of 30 knots. The shaft drive and IPS hulls are built specifically for the 45 Fly’s drivetrain.
Layout options below deck include either two luxurious queen bed cabins each with their own ensuite and walk-in wardrobes, or a three-cabin layout with two queen berths, a single berth, spacious bathrooms. The main level features an aft galley in close proximity to the expansive aft deck entertaining area, a port-side dinette in the cabin, and a double-wide helm seat to port with two tub-chairs behind, plus a large forward double-sized sunpad complete with a collapsible canopy for shade. The flybridge layout features a port-side helm with double bench seat, a forward sunpad and an entertainment centre to starboard, and a full beam u-shaped dinette aft with a removable pedestal table.
