Jaguar Powerboats combines Mercury 600s with a luxury yacht
By Eric Vienneau
The modern, almost futuristic-looking center console is expected to be the first yacht powered by twin Mercury Marine 600 outboards.
“Hull number one of the 55 Special is nearing completion and will soon be tested at Mercury’s Lake X facility,” said John Clarke, Jaguar Powerboats president. “With the 600s, we’re expecting to top 75 mph—in a boat that offers all the amenities and luxury one would expect in a world-class yacht.”
This gorgeous yacht has all the must-need amenities. Its 17’-10” hardtop will fit 10 people with six Llebroc helm chairs, twin lounges and two jumpseats, alongside a built-in bar with refrigerator, sink and bottle storage, and ice maker in the cockpit and a second refrigerator there as well.
Below deck is even cooler. With 75” of headroom, the full-length master cabin has a queen bed, hanging closet, sofa, and television, an en suite bathroom with a full shower, toilet, and sink, and another head to port. The large yacht windows on each side will make this space feel like a 5-star suite with amazing views of the water.
Jaguar says the 55 Special is unlike anything they have previously designed. The designed is the definition of modern. The 55’ x 11’-11” hull is more angular than previous Jaguar hulls, with bold chines and a substantial reverse sheer. Strakes and running pads ensure the boat’s sure-footedness and smooth ride, drawing on its racing legacy.
This boat really looks like something out of a science-fiction movie. Sleek and striking with a curvaceous design which will inspire you to rest languidly in the beautiful water like royalty.
You can find the renderings and specifications for this boat in the dynamic custom boatbuilder’s history available at the Palm Beach International Boat Show, March 25-28, slip 1024.
Jaguar Powerboats will debut the 55 Special luxury Center Console catamaran yacht at the 2021 Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show, October 27-31.
