Entertaining your crew all day, and all evening, long.
Based out of Pulaski, Wisconsin, Marquis Yachts first stormed on to the market about 20 years ago with the introduction of their Marquis Yachts 59. In 2018 they pulled all of their then current models off the market, and announced an all new Marquis Yachts would emerge in 2020.
Their all new model, the most recent addition to the fleet, and perhaps a foreshadowing of things to come, is the M42 Express Cruiser, which was just introduced at the 2019 Fort Lauderdale Boat Show this past fall. While Marquis labels the M42 as an express cruiser, at 42 feet it’s hardly a pocket cruiser, and with a small but well-laid out cabin down below juxtaposed to a massive and spacious entertaining deck above, this unique looking model, with a ‘day-boat’ vibe, will certainly turn a few heads both at the dock, and out on the water.
The 42-footer has a 13 foot beam, and will be offered at in a 480 hp Cummins QSB 6.7 inboard configuration, and plans are to have a Triple 400 hp outboard configuration available as well. Mercury Verado power will be offered, which will offer key features such as Joystick Piloting, Auto Trim, and Auto Pilot. The first thing you will notice about this model are its’ striking lines, and the very unique near-plumb bow with the predominant anchor jutting out of the bow.
A massive hydraulic swim platform (on the inboard version only), greets guest as they board from back aft, and a couple of steps to starboard lead to an impressive cockpit that was clearly designed for entertaining. Just ahead of the large aft facing sunbed, which opens hydraulically to reveal access to the engine compartment, an oversized U-shaped lounge, with a fixed teak dining table, can accommodate about eight adults.
For the perfect party, the starboard entertainment centre with sink has the ability to accommodate such options as a grill, ice-maker, and refrigerator. And to keep the sun at bay, you can choose an optional hardtop or Bimini top.
The sporty helm off to port, features a double wide bench seat with power adjustment, along with other handy items such as trim tab controls with auto-retract, an electronics package with engine and audio equipment information interface, joystick control, and even a wireless anti-slip phone charger.
Although designed primarily as a ‘day-boat’, the M42 does feature a functional cabin forward, fitted with a large U-shaped seating area that can be converted into a queen-size bed. The handy galley is equipped with a microwave, refrigerator, sink, and ample storage. Off to port, the spacious head features a dedicated shower stall. The more than six and a half feet of headroom, along with the massive hull side window, gives the cabin a feeling of being larger than it is.
The M42 is available in five different hull colours, and the hull itself is hand-laid with resin infusion, and Marquis utilizes a fiberglass and foam stringer system. This is all backed up with a 10-year structural hull limited warranty.
Whether it is the striking lines, aggressively shaped bow, or the spacious and comfortable cabin accommodations, or the party sized cockpit, the M42 will keep you and your guests entertained all day (and evening) long!
