The 2017 North American Safe Boating Awareness Week Campaign is ramping up for this year’s boating season. Since 1995, this campaign has been the mainstay of boating safety outreach to the over 16 million people who recreate on Canadian waters each season. The 2017 campaign will be no exception as we continue to strive to engrain safe and responsible boating practices as second nature on the water.

At the core of the 2017 campaign are the 5 key messages that we have been consistently delivering to the boating community.  Click on each message to learn more.

The May long weekend is the traditional start of summer in Canada, and although the air may be warm, the water is still very cold – in some part of the country it was frozen just 6-8 weeks ago. Wearing a PFD and being aware of cold water immersion are your best two methods of defense.

The best boat trip is the one you return from to tell the story of how much fun it was.  Be safe.
