A NEW way to reduce your pulse on the water!

Back in January 2021, Volvo Penta launched an impressive industry first! A fully integrated assisted docking system.

The Assisted Docking system is designed to address a challenging aspect of boating… docking. Volvo created a “human-machine interface” using a GPS-based Dynamic Positioning System and proprietary Inboard Performance System (IPS).

The captain can dock his/her boat while the system has their back when it comes to sudden changes such as wind and waves.

Overall, the system does not dock for you, but it creates small changes in engine RPM and steering to simply assist the driver, so you are still in control when making important decisions while docking.

At the Palm Beach International Boat Show (2021), Volvo Penta allowed visitors to try out the Assisted Docking System via virtual reality.

The Assisted Docking system is an easy-to-use joystick. During the VR Simulation, visitors docked a 62’ yacht with the Volvo Penta Joystick alone. Then, they docked the same boat again using the Assisted Docking system and noted the difference.
